NSCAA/adidas High School and Youth Regional Coaches of the Year Released
Four coaches earn back-to-back honors; McVey recognized for fourth time in five years
Four coaches have earned NSCAA/adidas Regional Coach of the Year for two consecutive seasons to head the list of high school and youth coaches being honored by the National Soccer Coaches Association of America.

Three of the repeaters come from high school girls play: Iseed Khoury, the girls coach at Denton (Texas) High School, who claimed the Division II Southwest region award; and two from the Private/Parochial division: Dave Prutting of St. Anthony's High School in South Huntington, N.Y., from the East region; and Maureen McVey of St. Joseph's Academy in St. Louis, Mo., for the Midwest. McVeigh took regional honors in Division II last year. This marks her fourth NSCAA regional award in the last five years. The fourth repeat selection came from the Youith ranks, where Howie Thompson of Durham, N.C., was named South Region Coach of the Year for the second time.

Three coaches recognized in 2000 made return visits to the list: Frank Dixon, who led his Carmel (Ind.) High School girls squad to an undefeated season and the No. 1 spot in the final NSCAA/adidas national fall poll; William Weir of Albuquerque (N.M.) Academy in the Girls Private/Parochial division; and Michael Davis, boys coach at the Catlin-Gable School in Portland, Ore.

One school swept both the boys and girls honors for its region. Totino-Grace High School of Fridley, Minn., saw its boys coach, Jeff Dennehy, and its girls coach, Bill Vance, among the honorees.

The regional coaches are finalists for NSCAA/adidas National Coach of the Year for their respective divisions. The high school coaches chosen for the national honor also will be named to the coaching staffs for the McDonald's All American High School Soccer Games, to be held in Charleston, S.C., next summer. The national winners will be announced on Friday, Jan. 17, as part of the 2003 NSCAA Convention in Kansas City, Mo.
