Zachary Riffett of Brenham (Texas) High School leads a list of 75 players named to the 2002 NSCAA/adidas Boys High School All-America Team.

A senior goalkeeper, Riffett was named to the team for the third time, the only player on the list to complete the hat trick. He is joined by 10 other players who make repeat appearances on the All-America roster. Selected from the midfield were Ben Brackett of West Des Moines (Iowa) Valley High School; Patrick Ianni of Lodi (Calif.) High School; Ashley Kozicki of Pleasant Valley High School, Brodheadsville, Pa.; John Mulhern of Smithtown (N.Y.) High School; Derick Radcliffe of Bearden High School in Knoxville, Tenn.; Gary Rocca of Leominster (Mass.) High School; D. Blake Sharpe of Canterbury High School in Fort Wayne, Ind.; Raul Ybarra of Santa Barbara (Calif.) High School and Brian Yi of the McDonogh School in Owings Mills, Md. The only other non-midfielder to repeat on the squad was Gage Hills, a forward for San Francisco (Calif.) University High School.

The athletes who were selected from schools that play during the fall season will comprise the first part of the selection pool for the Second Annual McDonald's All American High School Soccer Games, which will be held une 15 in Charleston, S.C. Because their teams played either winter or spring schedules, two honorees from this year's team, Duke Hashimoto of Honolulu's Iolani High School and Hunter West of Bradenton (Fla.) Manatee High, participated in the inaugural match last June in Charleston, S.C. Hashimoto now plays at Southern Methodist, while West plays at South Florida.

Only eight juniors and one sophomore appeared on the roster. Leading the juniors is Xavier Balc of Hudson (Ohio) High School, a forward who helped his team to a share of the No. 1 spot in the final NSCAA/adidas Boys High School National Ranking. The lone sophomore also hailed from Ohio: Kenneth Willis, a forward who plays for Cardinal Mooney High School in Youngstown.
