The adage of "defense wins championships" gained more credibility as junior college Division I national champion Yavapai College placed two defensive players on the first team of the 2002 NSCAA/adidas Men's Junior College All-America Team.

Freshman goalkeeper Stephen O'Farrell and sophomore defender Jordan McKee claimed honors for Yavapai, which claimed its fourth NJCAA national title while earning coach Mike Pantalione his 300th win at the school.

There were only two repeat selections, both on the Division III team: Bladimir Castillo-Correa, goalkeeper for Montgomery College-Rockville, and forward Eric Zegle of Dutchess Community College.

The complete list of players selected follows.
