| Craig Bohnert |
|
Named the NSCAA's assistant executive director for communications in September 2000, Craig Bohnert has more than 25 years of sports communications experience. He is responsible for oversight of all NSCAA communications efforts, developing messages and designing publications and advertising that raise awarness of the Association. He also serves as managing editor of Soccer Journal.
His career includes stints as sports information director at Murray (Ky.) State University and Morehead (Ky.) State University. While at Murray State, he helped organize and administer weekly polls and national player of the week selections for NCAA Division I-AA football and coordinated media relations for post-season appearances by the Racer football and basketball teams.
He spent five years as communications director for U.S. Canoe and Kayak Team and was public relations director for USA Gymnastics for two years. He has served as a U.S. Olympic Committee press officer at five Olympic Games, two Pan American Games and seven U.S. Olympic Festivals and was assistant venue press chief for gymnastics and tennis at the 1984 Los Angeles Olympic Games.
A 1981 graduate of the University of Evansville with a degree in journalism and advertising, Bohnert also holds a master's degree in mass communications from Illinois State University. An active soccer referee, he is an NISOA member and has been selected to officiate at 10 Kansas high school state championships. He was named the NFHS Kansas State Referee of the Year for the 2007 boys season.
