Steve Malone

A member of the NSCAA since 1971, Malone served as the NSCAA's 59th President. A former member of the NSCAA Board of Directors as high school boys representative, he has served on various NSCAA All-America committees and has served as chair of the Boys High School All-America, Scholar All-America and Team Academic Award committees. He was a member of the Host Committee for the 1993, 2000 and 2005 Conventions in Baltimore, Md., and was the Local Organizing Committee chair in 2000. Malone also was an original member of the High School National Rankings Committee.

The initiator of the NSCAA's High School Team Academic and Scholar All-America awards, Malone coached high school soccer in Maryland at both Andover High School in Linthicum and North County High School in Glen Burnie. He retired from coaching in 1993 and from teaching in 1999 after more than 32 years as an educator, athletics director and coach. He led Andover to a state title in 1989 and won seven league and seven district/regional championships during his tenure at both schools. He is a founding member of the Maryland Association of Coaches of Soccer (MACS) and twice has served as president of the organization (1974-77, 1992-96). He is one of only two two-time recipients of the MACS Service Award (1980 and 1986).

Malone served on the National Federation of High Schools Rules Committee for 12 years, including four years as National Chair. He was the high school soccer rules interpreter for the state of Maryland for 20 years.
