Sarokon named recipient of Charlotte Moran Memorial Scholarship
KANSAS CITY, Mo. (February 28, 2017) - The Charlotte Moran Scholarship Committee has announced the recipient of this year’s Charlotte Moran Memorial Scholarship. The committee named Christina Sarokon as the recipient of this year’s award.
Sarokon is currently an assistant coach with the women’s soccer program at McNeese State University in Lake Charles, Louisiana.
She is an alumni of the Saint Bonaventure University women’s soccer program where she enjoyed a four-year career. Sarokon earned her B.S. in Sports Studies and Human Development from Saint Bonaventure. She also earned her NSCAA Goalkeeper Levels I, II, and III Diplomas, NSCAA Advanced National Goalkeeping Diploma, and the USSF National "D" License."
"This year we had many high quality applicants for the Charlotte Moran Memorial Scholarship. Within the group, Christina Sarokon stood out as someone with a passion for coaching and who wants to make the game even better for young females. The committee felt that Christina is exactly who Charlotte intended this scholarship to be for...a coach or administrator in the beginning of their career who is committed to staying involved with the women's game for the long-term.
We are extremely excited for Christina, as she will be using this scholarship for her NSCAA Advanced National Diploma and has a very bright future ahead of her!" - Kelly Grant, Charlotte Moran Memorial Scholarship Committee Chair
The Women's Soccer Coaches Community offers the Charlotte Moran Memorial Scholarship to individuals dedicated to the growth and development of girls and women in soccer. The committee seeks scholarship applicants from coaches, administrators, and players currently involved in the game to be used to attend an NSCAA educational course or event, followed by a plan to “give back” with a program to enhance girls and/or women’s soccer.
